Roscommon Gaels Under 16 girls have qualified for the Division 1Championship final following a hard fought semi final on Tuesday September 2nd in Lisnamult. Despite dominating the early possession, the girls failed to register a score and Clann na nGael raced into a 1-02 to 0-00 lead. The Gaels ladies soon found their scoring boots and midway through the first half scores were level. The half back liners were now totally on top, and by the time they had reached the break they had raced into a 5 point advantage.
Again the Roscommon Gaels girls started the second half on top but failed to convert a number of good chances. Both teams were now finding scoring a problem as defences got on top. Two brilliant goals in quick succession seemed to put the game beyond the Clann girls, but to their credit, they fought back into the game reducing the deficit to 4 points with 10 minutes remaining. With the game hanging in the balance the Gaels girls dug deep to finish the stronger and run out winners at the final whistle. Overall, this was a great performace from a very talented and dedicated group of girls who now face St. Barry's in the final. Date TBC. Best of Luck to Team and Management.
