New Season Has Kicked -Off Best Wishes to all our Coaches for the Season ahead. Some of our teams have already started training in preparation for upcoming games. The time you give to coaching our teams is fantastic – let’s make all sessions as enjoyable and effective as possible. B. Club Mentoring Programme 2018 This important programme will include an opportunity for all our coaches to present their views on how we can improve our club. Information on implementation of the Programme within our club will follow shortly. PLAY SAFE - STAY SAFE HURLING HELMETS The GAA would like to remind all players at all levels in all Hurling Games and Hurling Practice Sessions it is mandatory for, and the responsibility of, each individual player to wear a helmet with a facial guard that meets the standards set out in IS: 335 or other replacement standard as determined by the National Safety Authority of Ireland (NSAI). All players are advised that in the event of a head injury occurring, if the helmet being worn does not meet the standard or is modified or altered from the original manufactured state, they are not covered under the terms of the GAA Player Injury Fund. Further information is available here MOUTHGUARDS FOR GAELIC FOOTBALL Mouth guards are mandatory for players in all age grades, in all Gaelic football practice sessions and games. This rule has been mandatory for players in grades up to Minor since 2013 and applies to all age grades since January 1st 2014. CASH FOR CLOBBER We will be holding a Cash for Clobber initiative later in the year but we will accept a collection on a Sunday night 8.30pm-9.30pm using the bar entrance in the Hyde Centre or alternatively you can contact Harry Hoare on (086) 3436225 to arrange a drop off. Please donate all your clean unwanted clothes, bed linen, towels, curtains, shoes, bags, belts and soft toys etc. Also accepted are mobile phones, laptops, so if any house is doing a clearout please contact us and we will store the bags. We ask that bags are not left unattended at any time. It’s a great opportunity to do a clear out and to easily earn money for the Club in the process. So get de cluttering! Feile Well done to our under 14 Girls Football team who played Brigid’s in the Feile Semi Final today in a very exciting game. Unfortunately the result didn’t go our way on this occasion. The girls in true Gaels spirit never gave up and tried to the very end. Well done girls we are very proud of you. Well done to Brigid’s who went on to win the final and will represent Roscommon in Feile. Junior Ladies Junior football training starts this Tuesday evening at 8pm in The Hyde. Anyone interested in playing Junior Football this year is asked to come along. Mothers and Others A meeting will be held in The Hyde Centre at 8pm on Wednesday 7th for the Mothers & Others. CONVENT OF MERCY ROSCOMMON Congratulations to The Convent of Mercy senior team who are the FAI schools senior girls Connacht Cup CHAMPIONS 2018. Roscommon Gaels club Mass A huge crowd attended the club mass Sunday last in the Sacred Heart Church. It was a lovely occasion to celebrate the activities of Roscommon Gaels in our parish and was a real celebration of our club. It was a fitting way to remember the deceased members of our club and also people who are ill or going through difficulties. A special thanks to Riona McGuinness, Laoise Connolly, Aisling McNeill and Aoife Conlon, all teachers in the local schools. Who organised and rehearsed all the music and songs with the underage players. There was a huge amount of talent displayed at our Mass and again we are lucky to have such a talented bunch of young people in our club and to have volunteers willing to put work into all our club activities. Important Date for your Diary Roscommon Gaels will host an American Tea Party on Saturday March 3rd 2018 Where? The Abbey Hotel Roscommon. What Time? 9.30pm. Tables: Limited to 30 tables of 10 people @ €20 per head. Fundraiser: To fund the last 6 months repayments on Lisnamult Land loan. (These repayments are normally funded through the Christmas Draw which was not held in 2017). Members should avoid doubling up at tables. Entertainment Raffle and Auction on the night.
