Camogie U14 Camogie The U14 camogie league competition continued this week when Roscommon Gaels travelled to Four Roads for the second round. The evening was calm and cool similar to the players but they took to the field with fire in their belly. The game started with scores from Roscommon from play and also from accurate free taking and the half time whistle blew with Roscommon Gaels 3:3 Four Roads 0:0. We couldn’t believe it, this was the Four Roads team that had secured their place in féile and we were matching them and beating them. The girls were electric during the half time talk and each one encouraging the other and heard to say ‘now we can’t lie back this is four roads and they will come back at us’. They were taking nothing for granted and as a team decided to start the second half as if they were starting the game again, the lead was incidental to them at this point. The second half began with a mid field battle for ball and Four Roads scored a point. The girls decided they were not having this and regained possession and matched the point. The Gaels rattled in a further 3 goals and 4 points with a final score of 6:8 to 0:1. To say the crowd went wild is an understatement. The joy on the girls faces and their chitter chatter coming off the pitch is what mentors live for. Scorers on the day were Ava Mulry, Zara Fallon, Molly Finneran, Anna Kiernan, Gwen Killion, Grace O’ Gara, Emma Hough, Alannah Sutton. This win puts Roscommon Gaels joint leaders on the league board and the next match is at home to Pearses on Tuesday 21st May 2019 at 7pm. Minor / Junior and U16 camogie training will continue on Thursday in Lisnamult from 6.30pm to 8pm. LGFA U12 Football The u12 girls returned to form on Sunday evening when they took on a very tough and skillful Castlerea team. The girls played some outstanding football in front of a very large crowd of supporters. The girls fought hard throughout the game with everyone playing a vital role and came away with a three score win. Well done to the girls! Their focus now turns to Sunday evening next 26th of May, when they take on Eire Óg in Lisnamult at 6pm in round 4 of the Summer League. We would like to thank the parents for their continued support of the girls each week. Training continues Wednesday evening in Lisnamult at 6:30pm. Dear Parent/Guardian As you are aware Friday 28th to Sunday 30th June Roscommon Gaels will host three visiting Féile teams. (One) u-14 Boys football team and (Two) u-14 ladies football teams. This is a wonderful opportunity for our club and our community. To make it a success for our club and the visiting teams, we need to raise funds to cover the cost of our Féile weekend and we need your help. We are having a 80’s, 90’s Disco Friday 24th May in Nancy’s Late night venue. We are looking at 2 tickets (€10 per ticket) per household and we'd really appreciate if parents would purchase tickets either through a committee member or purchase on the night. We want this to be a great social night., One event if supported, will be suffice. We look forward to creating a successful Féile 2019 and only with your help we can accomplish such. Please support. Thanking you, Roscommon Gaels Féile Committee: Finbar Reilly, Michelle Hughes Walsh, Úna Ní Chuinn, Declan Walsh
