The U12 girls made the journey to Strokestown on Friday Evening last worth it with a great win. The game was a high scoring one with our girls getting out of the blocks fast and clocking up some great early points. Midfield of Sioffra Hession and Centre Forward Shauna Walsh in particular were working hard - looking for the ball and using it intelligently. Roscommon Gaels stuck to the task and some great work and movement in the forward’s resulted in some great scores for the Gaels. Points were coming thick and fast in the latter stages of the first half ensured that Gaels were up at half time. When the Gaels played Strokestown in the league Strokestown held a first half lead only to surrender it in the second half and we won by 2 points. The girls were determined that the same would not happen this time. Strokestown came at them in the 2nd half - but the defence stood firm - blocking. Sarah Purcell was rock solid at centre back - getting in front of her girl and clearing well. Our backs Emma Hough, Eve McNeill and Emma O’Farrell never gave their girls an easy chance and showed the way defending well but also breaking up field in support of the attack. The Gaels girls never surrendered all 24 girls got game time. Well done girls. U14 Girls: - Well done to the U14 girls who had a comprehensive victory over Western Gaels in their Round 2 game in the P.K. Supplies Sponsored League in Lisnamult last Wednesday evening.
