U10:-Roscommon Gaels hosted the first hurling blitz of 2018 in warm & sunny conditions Saturday morning in Lisnamult. Over 160 U10 7 U8 hurlers representing 5 clubs fielded 15 teams and played a total of 22 matches across 7 pitches in perfect conditions. Our own hurlers performed very well while representing the club, and gained valuable experience in playing teams from outside the County including Ballinasloe who travelled with 4 teams on the day. Thanks to all volunteers who supported the blitz, including coaches and parents who helped on the day and showed Roscommon Gaels in a very favourable light. Special thanks to our student referees Sean Tully, Richard Walsh, Ciara Gannon, Rachel Corcoran and James Mooney who refereed on the day.
U14:- The U-14 hurlers won a thrilling and nail-biting county Feile final against Four Roads by 2-9 to 0-13 in Athleague on the Bank Holiday Monday. It was a proud day for all involved with the team and was the first time the Gaels have won the U-14 title in 23 years. A special word of thanks to all those who came to support the team on the day. The team is back on action next Wednesday when they play Carrick-on-Shannon in the county league at 7 p.m. in Lisnamult.

County Hurling: - Well done to brothers Cillian Egan and Gearoid Egan who were on the Roscommon Hurling team who played Kildare yesterday in the first round of the Christy Ring Cup. The game was played in St. Conleth's Park Newbridge.
U12:-Our Girls played Strokestown Friday in the 3rd and final round of the Championship. Roscommon Gaels 0-23 Strokestown 0-2. The U12 girls made the journey to Strokestown on Friday Evening last worth it with a great win. The game was a high scoring one with our girls getting out of the blocks fast and clocking up some great early points. Midfield of Sioffra Hession and Centre Forward Shauna Walsh in particular were working hard - looking for the ball and using it intelligently.
Roscommon Gaels stuck to the task and some great work and movement in the forward’s resulted in some great scores for the Gaels. Points were coming thick and fast in the latter stages of the first half ensured that Gaels were up at half time.
When the Gaels played Strokestown in the league Strokestown held a first half lead only to surrender it in the second half and we won by 2 points. The girls were determined that the same would not happen this time. Strokestown came at them in the 2nd half - but the defence stood firm - blocking. Sarah Purcell was rock solid at centre back - getting in front of her girl and clearing well. Our backs Emma Hough, Eve McNeill and Emma O’Farrell never gave their girls an easy chance and showed the way defending well but also breaking up field in support of the attack. The Gaels girls never surrendered all 24 girls got game time. Well done girls.
U14 Girls: - Well done to the U14 girls who had a comprehensive victory over Western Gaels in their Round 2 game in the P.K. Supplies Sponsored League in Lisnamult last Wednesday evening. A Solid Western Gaels defence forced our forwards to take more out of the ball with some fantastic scores from our girls. Great to see all girls getting a game. Round 3 we play Castlrea on Wednesday 16th of May in Lisnamult at 7pm.
U16 girls: - Training Continues Wednesday evenings in The Hyde for our U16’s.
